Head to the summit for more diverse terrain to test your skills. Gad 2 takes you to Baldy’s Bowl for epic views and Bassawkwards is a great blue run back to Mid-Gad. The lower terrain from the Mid-Gad, Gadzoom and Gad 2 lifts is a good place to start before heading to the summit. Big Emma is a good indication you’re ready to tackle Snowbird’s intermediate slopes. Over a third of Snowbird Resort is dedicated to confident intermediate skiers who take their pick of groomed or ungroomed terrain on any of Snowbird’s chairlifts. Snowbird has a reputation for having slighter steeper blues than other Rocky Mountain resorts. Lupine Loop and the Baldy Express lift will take you to fun beginner runs (Claim Jumper, Lucky Boy, Birds Nest) but there’s no easy way down so you’ll have to ride the Tram back to base! Take the Tram and make your way over to Mineral Basin. If you’re comfortable on Big Emma from the top, you may be ready to advance to slightly steeper terrain and head to the summit. The top-station is quite steep so for a warm up on gentler terrain off-load at mid-station for Lower Emma. The Mid-Gad lift takes you to Big Emma which is a challenging green run down to the base of the mountain. The Baby Thunder area has challenging green runs, child-friendly tree trails and a designated family area with a Mini Miners Camp to keep the kids entertained for hours. If this is too easy, head to the west end of the resort (Entry 1) to access the Gad Valley. Chickadee next to the Cliff Lodge is ideal for first timers with a magic carpet, training hill, chairlift and a short gentle slope perfect for learning the basics of skiing. There are three slow ski areas on Snowbird for beginners to enjoy. Ski-in/Ski-Out options from Alta Chalets: Private Homes Our selection of Snowbird private homes are based closer to the town of Alta and all require a short drive or shuttle ride to the slopes of Snowbird.Ski-in/Ski-Out options from Alta Chalets: Powder Ridge The Powder Ridge properties are the only true ski-in/ski-out condominiums in Alta, however they are a short drive or bus ride from the slopes of Snowbird Resort. Ski-in/Ski-Out options from Alta Chalets: Superior Point Superior Point condominiums are located on the Alta Bypass Road between Alta and Snowbird Resort and are across the street to ski-in/ski-out access to Snowbird. You can ski down to Snowbird or take the shuttle to the Alta Ski Area.
